Orchestras

The Homerton Concert Orchestra for Homerton members and the local community rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm to 9pm. This is an non-auditioned orchestra with all levels of ability welcome! We play a diverse repertoire, with music ranging from Grease to Holst’s The Planets. As well as rehearsing various pieces and performing them in end of term concerts, we also run socials to build a friendly orchestra community. Whether your instrument is dusty or whether you’ve played in orchestras for years, we’d love to see you in October!

The Homerton Symphony Orchestra is a new addition to the Homerton music community which performs more traditional symphonic repertoire, meeting for only a few rehearsals towards the end of the undergraduate term. It’s a perfect fit for people wanting to perform to a high standard without the commitment of weekly rehearsals.

Both orchestras perform two or three times per year, in end-of-term concerts organised by the Homerton College Music Society. Both orchestras are directed by the Conducting Scholar, a student who is appointed each year through competitive auditions.
